Traditional VCT (Vinyl Composite Tile) has long been the industry standard due to its low cost, but its construction of vinyl, limestone and other compounds means that its porous surface requires routine stripping and waxing cycles to provide proper protection. While an expertly waxed and burnished floor is beautiful, its cost in materials and labor can really add up in high traffic areas. VCT is usually manufactured in 12x12 squares making it easy to identify in commercial spaces. This type of flooring will be solid or speckled without imitating the appearance of marble, stone or wood.

LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) has been developed to be constructed with 100% vinyl and a top decorative layer allowing for a floor that is both waterproof and can mimic a variety of wood, natural stone and ceramic surfaces. LVT is most commonly sold in strips, planks or squares. The key to identifying LVT is to look for the size and shape of the strips of flooring, the appearance of grooves or texture on the surface and a softer feel than what you would expect from actual stone or wood flooring. Without the need for burnishing, stripping and waxing, the maintenance on these types of flooring is a breeze! We are seeing more and more customers with LVT in commercial spaces and we have developed solutions to meet the shift in modern floorcare.
